A Simple Solution for Stress Incontinence & Urge Incontinence with our BTL Emsella Chair.
The BTL Emsella Chair
Created by leading medical & aesthetics manufacturer BTL, the Emsella chair is a revolution in incontinence technology. This ergonomically designed chair has been developed in partnership with healthcare practitioners to help strengthen pelvic floor muscles and empower people to regain control of their bladders.
Using the Emsella chair is easy and totally painless. Its state-of-the-art technology can improve the symptoms of stress incontinence and urge incontinence in a few half-hour sessions, without any need for surgery or any other invasive treatments. The entire treatment can be done fully clothed, which means there’s no need to worry about any embarrassment or discomfort.
How the Emsella Chair Works
The technology at the heart of the chair’s design uses HIFEM High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) frequencies to tighten the muscles in the pelvic floor and bladder to stop urinary incontinence.
HIFEM technology makes the muscles contract, similar to Kegel exercises but far more powerful. The machine can complete around eleven thousand Kegel contractions in half an hour, which gives the pelvic floor the kind of workout that’s simply not possible otherwise.
This takes the muscles to a “supramaximal level” without any need for the patient to move a muscle. The process is also healing and stimulating, causing the body to produce completely new fibers and proteins from within. This vastly improves muscle control and leads to a significant decrease in symptoms of stress and urge incontinence.
How Many Treatments are Needed?
For optimal results, a course of six treatments is recommended. Some patients find that even after one treatment they feel the highly effective results, but for most it’s reasonable to expect a few sessions. Because we’re all made differently, some people need more than six treatments, this is why we offer a further set of 6 sessions (if required), at no further cost. We are the only clinic in the UK to offer this.
Incontinence can be an embarrassing and distressing condition, but it’s more common than you may think. It’s thought that there are at least six million sufferers in the UK alone and many more around the world. Because it’s associated with shame and embarrassment, most suffer in silence and don’t even mention it to their doctors.
The pelvic floor is an important part of the body that supports the bladder, uterus and bowel. It’s common for the floor to get weaker after childbirth, and many women find themselves struggling to stay dry once they become mothers. It’s also common to experience stress or urge incontinence during the menopause and as a natural part of the aging process. As women age, they naturally produce less oestrogen and collagen; both important factors in maintaining a strong pelvic floor. Hysterectomies are also a common culprit, as well as conditions such as whooping cough and illnesses like Multiple Sclerosis and diabetes.
It’s not only women who suffer from urinary incontinence. Many men also experience this embarrassing problem with age, or as a result of other health issues and surgeries.
Whatever the cause of incontinence, the effects on the lives of sufferers can feel unbearable. As well as causing embarrassment and discomfort, incontinence can often mean the loss of freedom and independence, as many sufferers find themselves avoiding social situations and the activities they once loved. Constantly needing to be near a bathroom and the fear of an accident can leave many people feeling like it’s easier to stay at home. We want to change that.

Types of Incontinence
There are three main types of incontinence: stress, urge and mixed. Let’s find out a bit more about them now:
Stress incontinence is the most common type of bladder weakness. The symptoms include urinary leakage when lifting, sneezing, laughing, coughing or exercise. It happens when the muscles at the neck of the bladder become weak, which is often a result of aging. Like in other parts of the body, the skin loses collagen over time, and as collagen plays an important role in keeping organs strong, when it gets slack so too does the pelvic floor. Stress incontinence is also very common after childbirth – particularly vaginal deliveries – and hysterectomies.
Urge incontinence happens when the muscles in the bladder’s wall stop working properly. Like any wall, it should be solid and firm, but as muscles start to get slack there’s an increased urge to urinate, which is often accompanied with leakage. Urge incontinence is also known as an “overactive bladder”, which gives the sensation of constantly needing to use the loo even when the bladder is empty.
Mixed incontinence is a mix of the two. It happens when both urge and stress incontinence are present, and it can happen for any of the reasons outlined above.
Whichever type of incontinence you’re experiencing, it’s likely to feel very stressful and upsetting and can significantly impede your quality of life. Constantly running to the bathroom or worrying about having to change underwear and pads can be extremely distressing, so you may start to avoid activities you love like swimming, dancing or socialising. Here at Body Lipo Lincoln we want to give you back your freedom so you can enjoy life again without worry or anxiety
