Laser Hair Removal
If you’ve had enough of shaving, waxing and hair remover cream and want a longer lasting solution for stubborn face and body hair, laser hair removal could be the answer. Laser hair removal is a great way to regain confidence, permanently reducing unwanted hair by as much as 95%.
At Body Lipo Lincoln we offer laser hair removal in a friendly, comfortable environment, leaving you feeling confident and smooth.
How it works
We use state of the art technology (Advance Laser Hair Removal) to ensure safe removal of your face or body hair. The cooled laser is delivered through a small handheld device for the ultimate in comfort and effectiveness, and the energy from the laser targets the hair follicle from deep within. This process is different to traditional laser hair removal treatments such as IPL, which can leave the surrounding skin feeling sensitive and damaged. Because our device delivers the energy in one continuous, focused beam, the rest of the skin is left unharmed.
The Advance Laser Hair Removal device has three wavelengths to target different areas and thickness of hair, with the lasers working at super-fast speed for a painless, easy treatment that leaves skin soft and comfortable.
What to Expect during your laser hair removal treatment
At Body Lipo Lincoln we pride ourselves on our exceptional customer service and commitment to excellence, so we will go out of our way to make you feel comfortable. Before your treatment begins, we will take the time to explain the process and identify the main areas to work on with white pencil. You will be provided with goggles to protect your eyes from the laser beam and ultrasound gel will be applied to the area to conduct the energy.
The handpiece is cool and will be placed onto the skin and you will be guided by the specialist of when the treatment starts. Once the treatment starts, we will be asking you on a scale of 1-10 how hot it feels and there will be a gradual increase in heat. We want you to be at about an 8-9 and this lets us know we are reaching and destroying the hair follicle. We then turn on the cooling head to make the treatment comfortable.
The sensation is similar to a flicking of elastic bands on the area and sometimes there is no sensation at all. We will assess your skin sensitivity too to ensure that we always use the right frequency to get the safest, fastest results. It shouldn’t hurt, but it’s normal to experience a mild tingling sensation during your treatment so you may prefer to wear loose clothes.
Frequently asked questions
about laser hair removal
Here are some of frequently asked questions we hear about laser hair removal in our Lincoln clinic. If there’s anything we haven’t covered, feel free to get in touch!
Is laser hair removal painful?
No, for the majority of people, laser hair removal does not hurt. Many people report a tingling sensation, but no major pain. If you have particularly sensitive skin or a low tolerance to pain you may feel discomfort, but this shouldn’t be any more than the feeling of an elastic band snapping against your skin.
How long do the results last?
In some cases, after a few treatments laser hair removal leads to permanent results, but most people find they need a follow up treatment after six months to a year.
Is this the best type of permanent hair remover for me?
Everyone is different and we will take the time to understand your specific needs before we begin, but if you’re struggling with stubborn hair and want a hassle free, long lasting solution, this could well be the best hair removal treatment for you!
Is laser hair removal safe?
Yes. The process was approved as safe back in 1997, and changes in technology mean that this method of hair removal is safer and more effective than ever.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal relies on thousands of tiny pulses of light that are delivered direct to the hair follicle, destroying unwanted hairs at the root. For the process to be effective it must be undertaken when the hair is actively growing, because hair grows at different rates in different parts of the body. This means it usually takes several treatments before permanent results can be seen, but permanent hair removal is definitely possible.
Why is laser hair removal different to IPL?
IPL (Intense Pulse Light) hair removal uses a variety of different wavelengths that affect both the hair follicle and the skin around it. Laser hair removal is different because it’s an intense beam that’s targeted in one place only, which means the surrounding skin isn’t damaged in the process and more precise results can be achieved.
Are there any age restrictions?
In most cases you would need to be at least 18 to book in for laser hair removal, but we are happy to discuss individual cases.
Can pregnant women have laser treatments?
There is little evidence in this field, so it’s advisable to avoid laser hair removal until your baby has been born.
Where on the body can you have a laser hair removal treatment?
Laser is suitable for any part of the body apart from the eyelids, but we are most commonly asked to remove unwanted hair on the arms, legs, back, bikini line, underarms and face.
How many treatments are needed?
Most people need around six laser hair removal treatments to ensure the best possible results. This is because hair grows at different rates, so targeting every single follicle effectively takes time. The treatments are usually spaced about four to six weeks apart.
