Woman Radio frequency

7 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RADIOFREQUENCY

IT’S NON-SURGICAL AND USED TO TARGET SAGGING SKIN & WRINKLES

Radiofrequency facial doesn’t sound the most exciting, but radiofrequency treatments have been proven effective for tightening and firming Skin for years. Like laser and LED treatments, radiofrequency uses energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production, but the heat energy is electrical rather than light based.

IT TARGETS aging SAGGING SKIN

Louise White Skin expert and founder and clinical lead of Body Lipo Lincoln explains that radiofrequency is appealing because it’s a non-invasive, gentle way to tighten skin:

“Radiofrequency (RF) is a treatment that has become increasingly popular in recent years and uses RF energy to heat the dermis and tighten the skin without damaging the top layer.”

Not all radiofrequency machines work in exactly the same way & not all machines of equal strength that’s why you should always go to a medically lead clinic, but they fundamentally all use radiofrequency energy to tighten the underlying skin structure and contour the face to create firm, toned and youthful looking skin according to skin expert Louise White. It’s this tightening, firming action, brought about by boosting collagen and elastin synthesis, that makes radiofrequency especially suitable for targeting loose skin and the neck and chin, wrinkles and lines that develop between the nose and mouth.

How Long is the TREATMENT?

Your average radiofrequency treatment takes anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes according to Louise White and there’s very little downtime – you’re likely to experience a bit of redness for up to 24 hours afterwards but that’s about it. During the treatment a machine will heat skin to a bearable 38-40 degrees.

IT works on the body too

Louise says that radiofrequency treatments can smooth stretch marks out and tighten areas of loose skin, making it just as apt for your bum as it is for your face. Louise breaks down why she incorporates radiofrequency into Fat Melting treatment:

“Unlike some other fat reduction methods, this treatment is completely painless, has no downtime and provides an even, feathered result without surface irregularities which can a problem with other technologies.

“Mechanisms of action include encouraging fat cells to commit ‘suicide’ (so-called adipocyte apoptosis) after treatment with selective radiofrequency.”

Louise highlights that the treatment is particularly suitable for upper and lower abs and inner and outer thighs, while Louise adds that it can also have great results on upper arms. Some swear by its efficacy when it comes to reducing the appearance of cellulite too.

rf is suitable for most clients

Louise has seen an increase in both men and women seeking radiofrequency treatments and puts it down to “a desire to sculpt problem areas while avoiding pain and long periods of downtime”, plus most of us can serve to benefit:

“The beauty of radiofrequency is that it is suitable for most people – the depth of heating helps to firm, tighten and lift as well as reinvigorating skin for a healthy glow.”

This ‘glow’ is down to the fact that radiofrequency treatments help to rev up collagen production over time.

It Takes time to work

Like all most things in life it’s not a one hit wonder but takes time to work. “All energy-based bio-stimulative treatments naturally require a course of several sessions (normally a course of 8) and will induce results gradually over weeks. Look at it like joining a skin gym – great results are rarely achieved in a single session.”

Louise states that having one treatment every week for 8 weeks is ideal, you should start seeing results after few weeks.

it’s not for you if you have ROSACEA

As it’s a heat-based treatment it’s likely to cause further inflammation and make redness worse if you’ve got rosacea, and it’s not advisable if you’ve got broken blood vessels or capillaries. As with most aesthetic treatments, it’s also not suitable if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.

IT PAIRS WELL WITH OTHER TREATMENTS

You’ll often see radiofrequency offered alongside other aesthetic treatments including Chin Sculpting & Tightening and celebrity-loved Skin Pen microneedling. “Everyone wants high-performance facial treatments that target all of their concerns within one session, so combination facial treatments are becoming increasingly popular,” says Louise. “Radiofrequency speeds up collagen and elastin production and tightens the skin so tends to form the basis to most of my facial treatments.

“I also find RF shortens recovery time and enhances the results of skin peels and pigmentation treatments as it helps the skin cells turn over faster,” Louise continues.

It’s not just because it supercharges results that you’ll often see RF combined with other offerings, as Louise explains. “Radiofrequency doesn’t antagonise or have any contra-indications for clients who have had previous treatments such as filler or botulinum toxin injections.” Other skin tightening technologies, such as HIFU, can affect previous treatments, giving them less longevity, she says.

As with Skin Pen microneedling is the main treatment you’ll see radiofrequency combined with. “I would always encourage my microneedling clients to have a RF treatment immediately before or a week later to supercharge their results,” Louise says. “When we microneedle we are limited to a certain depth on the face and we are mainly working on skin texture but we don’t achieve deeper lifting and tightening. Using radiofrequency before microneedling helps to stimulate collagen at a deeper level and speed up the results of the treatment.”

What Is the Best Non-Surgical Fat Removal for 2022?

Body Lipo Lincoln

Non-surgical body contouring, also known as non-surgical fat reduction, permanently destroys fat cells. There are various non-invasive fat removal treatments that aim to reduce or remove stubborn pockets of fat without surgery. Treatment can be applied to reduce and contour different areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, bottom and upper arms.

Surgical liposuction and liposculpture procedures require incisions, stitches and anaesthesia, and have a number of associated risks and complications, including:

  • Risk of coma
  • Allergic reaction to the anaesthetic
  • Damage to internal organs
  • Pulmonary oedema (fluid in the lungs)
  • Pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs)
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
  • Infections that may require treatment in hospital with IV antibiotics
  • Hematomas and Seromas (pools of blood/fluids under the skin which may require surgical drains)
  • Bruising and swelling for up to six months
  • Numbness for up to eight weeks
  • Permanent nerve damage (which can cause numbness or chronic pain)
  • Uneven skin texture with noticeable bumps and dips
  • Change in skin colour (which can be permanent)
  • Non-symmetrical results (especially when treating hips, flanks, thighs and upper arms)
  • Scarring
  • Lengthy recovery times
  • Fatality (although unlikely, all procedures with general anaesthetic carry the risk of fatality).

Surgical fat removal procedures are not intended to be a weight loss solution, and it can be dangerous to remove more than eight pounds of fat. Liposuction and liposculpture are best suited to people close to their desired Body Mass Index (BMI) and have tight, elastic skin. Skin elasticity reduces as you age, making liposuction and liposculpture less suitable for people over 50.

Both surgical and non-surgical fat removal is intended to contour areas of the body by destroying fat cells in targeted areas.

We use several types of non-surgical fat removal techniques at Body Lipo Lincoln. The most suitable method will depend on the area of the body being treated and personal preference.

Cavitation (ultrasound) Non-Invasive Fat Removal

Cavitation fat removal utilises low-frequency ultrasound waves. The ultrasound waves transmit energy approximately three centimetres deep into the subcutaneous fat. The resulting vibrations break down the fat cells, which are then naturally dispelled from the body in your urine. During treatment, the therapist will methodically work around the overall circumference of the targeted area. The result is permanent subcutaneous fat removal (the fat you can grab with your hands) and visible inch-loss of the overall circumference in the area treated.

Cryotherapy (Fat Freeze) Non-Invasive Fat Removal

Cryotherapy uses cooling technology to reduce localised body fat. During treatment, the therapist uses a handheld vacuum device with cooling plates. This is positioned on the selected body area, which freezes the tissue to minus six degrees celsius. Because fat cells are far more susceptible to the cold than other cells, they crystallise and break down without damaging the surrounding tissue. The destroyed fat cells are absorbed and expelled by the body in urine, leaving the treated area to shrink over the following two to eight weeks.

Radiofrequency (Fat Melt) Non-Invasive Fat Removal

Fat removal using radiofrequency lipolysis uses an applicator that does not touch the skin. The radiofrequency sends energy deep into the subcutaneous fat, which heats the fat and destroys fat cells without causing damage to surrounding cells and tissue.

Skin tightening using shortwave radio frequency, also referred to as radiofrequency (RF) therapy, sends energy waves into the skin dermis to stimulate collagen production and hyaluronic acid in the targeted area. This causes the skin to tighten and become smoother and more even in appearance.

Skin Tightening Body Lipo Lincoln

Recovery Time After Non-Surgical Fat Removal

Surgical fat removal such as liposuction and liposculpture require a period of downtime and the wearing of compression garments, which can be uncomfortable. Many people choose to have non-surgical fat removal because due to the low risk and associated complications, there is virtually no downtime. Following non-surgical fat removal treatment, patients can usually resume normal activities and return to work.

Shockwave Body Lipo Lincoln

Acoustic Therapy/Shockwave Therapy Skin Tightening Treatment

Acoustic therapy, also referred to as shockwave therapy, uses high-energy radial waves that squeeze the targeted areas to break down stubborn fat, stimulating collagen production and improving blood flow. This treatment also triggers lymphatic drainage, helping the body eliminate the destroyed fat cells and toxins for a faster result.

Power Sculpt Body Lipo Lincoln

Power Sculpt Therapy

Power Sculpt therapy uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology HIFEM®. This advanced device delivers a powerful but harmless form of electromagnetic stimulation to send electrical currents into the muscle. This causes supramaximal muscle contractions in a targeted area and contours the area of the body treated. The Power Sculpt machine builds abdominal muscles, biceps, triceps, buttocks, and thighs, and in just 30 minutes, your muscles will have completed the equivalent of twenty thousand crunches or squats. And, as this energy penetrates seven centimetres deep, the fat surrounding the muscle is also reduced, giving the muscles a more defined appearance.

Infrared Sauna Body Lipo Lincoln

Infrared Light Therapy

Infrared light therapy is completely safe and painless, working by raising the core body temperature to encourage sweat production. As approximately 65% of the human body is water, infrared light therapy aids the release of toxins through the sweat glands. When the core temperature of the body increases, your body enters the fat-burning stage, similar to a high-intensity cardiovascular workout. The heat also stimulates collagen production and increases elastin in the skin for tighter skin and improved body contours.

Infrared Sauna Therapy

Non-Surgical Fat Reduction will normally require multiple treatments spaced over a period of weeks to produce optimum results. This will depend on the area, the amount of fat and how quickly the body responds to treatment. Some people will only need a one-off treatment such as Cryotherapy (fat freezing) or Cavitation (ultrasound) treatment; however, it may still be beneficial to combine treatments. Many people choose to include radio frequency (skin tightening) therapy and Power Sculpt HIFEM (muscle stimulation) treatments for additional definition. For increased feelings of wellness, we highly recommend Infrared Sauna therapy, which can help to lower stress hormones and has a range of physiological benefits.

skin care post Body Lipo Lincoln

8 OF THE MOST COMMON SKINCARE MISTAKES

NOT WEARING SPF EVERYDAY

SPF is essential every day, even in the winter months.  The suns aging rays can penetrate clouds leaving your skin vulnerable to its exposure.  Sun damage can cause premature aging, sun spots and can lead to skin cancer.  You should wear a minimum of SPF 30 every day as single product not a combined in makeup.

NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP

Getting a good eight hours sleep is also good for your skin, when we don’t get enough rest our skin and look pale, dull and often leave dark circles under our eyes.  Not get enough sleep affects skin hydration, collagen growth and skin texture.

OVER EXFOLIATING

Exfoliating is important to get rid of dead skin cells which gives us a brighter complexion.  Unfortunately, over exfoliating can cause damage to your skin barrier by causing tiny tears.  If using a physical exfoliator, you should use it only 2 -3 times per week and be very gentle in its application. Chemical exfoliators are a good alternative and are gentler to your skin.

NOT CHANGING YOUR PILLOW CASES

You should be changing your pillowcases every 3-4 days to prevent bacteria from multiplying, certain bacteria can lead to acne.  Top tip invest in silk pillow cases which are softer on the skin and can help to reduce wrinkles.

NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER

Water is the best and cheapest beauty product you can buy for your skin.  You should be drinking at least 2-3 litres of water a day.  Hydrated skin makes it look bright and plump without the use of hyaluronic acids.

DONT FORGET YOUR NECK!

Your neck needs attention too.  The neck is often forgotten and is one of places on our body that shows signs of ageing the most.  When using moisturiser and SPF don’t just stop at the jaw line bring down to the neck as well.

SLEEPING IN YOUR MAKE UP

Leaving your make up on when you go to bed is one of the worst things you can do for your skin and speeds up the signs of aging dramatically.  Don’t forget your skin is the largest organ in the body and needs to breath.  Try taking your make up off after your evening meal so you’re not so tempted to just jump into bed at the end of a long day.

NOT CLEANING YOUR PHONE

Most phones are a haven for bacteria and when we answer a call we put the phone to our face and transfer the bacteria onto it.  Clean your phone regularly with anti-bacterial wipes.
